"What a nightmare! We were playing Abbots Youth Blue. Our two previous results against them this season have been 6-1 and 6-5 to us but abbots have gone on a bit of a run lately so it was going to be close. 20 seconds after the game began J.Bugler was played in front of their defenders by K.Vyas and he slotted home from a tight angle. But after about 10 minutes of complete domination abbots were awarded a penalty. It was very close but it just slipped through E.Wileys hand. 1-1 game on. After a 10 minute spell of abbots domination they were awarded an indirect free kick and Despite having a few players on the line, the pure power of the strike sent it flying to the back of the net. Half time and we were a goal down, but we knew we could claw it back. But about 2 minutes into the second half they went further ahead when we left their main forward unmarked. But we got back in the match and with just over 15 minutes remaining, A.Allaway lobbed their keeper from the edge of the area and it was game on. Now we started to want it, and A.Allaway came close when he was one on one with the keeper. But with 2 minutes to go A.Allaway was played in and when he was just about to tap the ball into the empty net one of their players came lunging into the back of him to deny him from scoring. But their extremely bias ref waved it away. Everybody was in complete disbelief. It was a clear penalty! When the final whistle blew all of our players and fans were disgusted. The very unfortunate team today was A.Allaway, J.Bugler, A.Cox, W.Parkinson, J.Pickard, K.Vyas, O.Shann, R.Curwen, P.Noren, L.Green and E.Wiley, the subs were S.Bird and R.Troude, and the two players rested today were B.Bains and T.Attfield. Hard luck guys, next week Hadley Rangers away so hopefully we can record a nice win. By J.Bugler

This was our third match against London Colney this season. Our previous results were 5-3 and 11-5 us. But this time we only had 11 players and star striker A.Allaway was out along with speedy winger K.Vyas, Goalie E.Wiley and winger R.Troude. We were expecting a tough game and it didn’t disappoint. The game started evenly and no team really had the magic sparkle to take the lead. Nobody was really threatening until we won a corner. After a goal mouth scramble T.Attfield, who played well in midfield and up front, got his boot to it and thumped the ball home to give us the lead. A.Cox was in goal and as expected he was having a blinder and his big kicks came in handy. As half time approached we nearly got our second but we were denied by the keeper. Half time and it was 1-0 Cassiobury. When the second half started we were on top. W.Parkinson found some space, flicked the ball up and with his back to goal turned and volleyed a brilliant lob over the keeper to give us a two goal lead. We came close to our third when J.Bugler got his head onto it and it hit the post and J.Pickard, who alongside O.Shann was immense at the heart of the defence, was unlucky not to score that elusive first career goal from the rebound. But we did get our third when W.Parkinson crossed in another corner, once again won by the industrious R.Curwen, and L.Green slotted the ball home calmly. On his 100th appearance J.Bugler shot from 20 yards out and grabbed his 10th goal of the season to make it 4-0. What a result! There were some superb individual performances, not least W. Parkinson, but pick of the bunch was A.Cox who looked unbeatable between the sticks. With only 11 players we managed to win, but not only do that we got our first ever clean sheet in 11-a side! Superb result guys, next week Hadley Wood & Wingate Foxes away! By J.Bugler

This was our second match this season against Finchley (we lost 9-4 last time), but we had won 4 games in a row so confidence was high. Our line-up was E.Wiley in goal O.Shann, J.Pickard, R.Curwen and A.Cox at the back, K.Vyas, T.Attfield, L.Green and W.Parkinson in midfield, J.Bugler and A.Allaway up front and B.Bains and R.Troude on the bench. Defenders P.Noren and S.Bird weren’t here this week but A.Cox was great at the back and his strength, pace and long kicks were a great influence. On to the game, and we started ok but gave away a soft goal about 5 minutes in. But that goal may have come in handy as it switched us on and we started playing with great width and began creating chances. About 20 minutes in some good passing set K.Vyas up who finished neatly, levelling it. We now started to play very well and when J.Bugler set up A.Allaway we were unlucky not to score. When the half time whistle blew it was 1-1 but we would have the advantage of shooting down hill. We were buzzing and A.Allaway got his 16th goal in 4 games to give us the lead. Though they managed to get back at us and make it 2-2. We looked like we were going to throw it away but our coaches stayed positive and kept encouraging us to get the winning goal. And that goal came when W.Parkinson struck in a beautiful corner and J.Bugler ran to the front post and got a great head onto it to give us the lead. We had 10 minutes to go and they were really attacking but J.Pickard, R.Curwen, O.Shann and A.Cox were doing so well at the back it seemed we might hold on. Infact we scored with about 5 seconds to go when J.Bugler played it to B.Bains who found L.Green and instead of shooting he gave it to A.Allaway who took it round the keeper and make it 2-4! A fantastic result today boys! Everyone put in a fantastic shift but the MOM award went to J.Bugler after scoring a great header and creating loads of chances. A quick mention to Finchley Flyers who were so sporting and didn’t stop trying today and we all wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season. See you next week. By J.Bugler

We started the game and passed the ball around we then took a 2 goal lead with goals from the prolific A.Allaway and a goal by J.Bugler from W.Parkinson's corner. Another goal for A.Allaway and the introduction of P.Noren and R.Troude and the score was 3-1 to us at half time. Another 3 second half goals for A.Allaway and we were looking comfortable, we gave away a couple of sloppy goals but T.Atfield then completed our goal scoring. A final score of 7-4, another 5 goals for A.Allaway which keeps us 2nd in the league. David gave this weeks man of the match and in he's words for good passing and setting up 5 of the goals to B.Bains. Thanks Dave ! (match report by B.Bains.)"

Second match against London Colney having played them in the qualifying rounds earlier in the season so the boys they would have to play to maintain their recent good results, the match was a 12 O'Clock kickoff but it could easily have been 9am on a very foggy playing field. The match kicked off and we must have forgotten it was a match no sooner had it started we saw E. Wiley picking the ball out of the net for what must be the quickest goal we have ever conceeded. Time to kuckle down ! and the boys began to play, the defense was solid the midfield was compatative and graceful and the forwards were flying. 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 they were flying in from all angles, 6-1, 7-1 and then finally 8-1 and time to go home, not quite we've only reached half time. Andy took the opportuntiy to change things around and give all the subs a run out positions were changed and everyone got a game. Eventually the game ran out with Cassiobury taking the 3 points with a well deserved 11-5 victory, all the goals came from good team efforts W. Parkinson with his Hatrick, J. Bugler and L. Green taking one a piece and A. Allaway getting his Double hatrick a fantastic first half performance and a good run out for all the boys. See you next week (if the fog lifts !)

On a sloppy muddy pitch we played Abbots Youth Blue. We played them earlier this season and won 6-1, but they had a new player from Borehamwood 2000, who made a big influence. We did not start the match as we would have liked, going 2-0 down after 5 minutes. Despite this T.Attfield pounced on a dead ball to take their lead down to 1. After some sloppy defending they made it 3-1. Though super sub A.Allaway came on and scored two goals, making it 3-3 for half-time. We started the second half brightly with A.Allaway getting another, and K.Vyas getting his third of the season. A.Allaway got his fourth from a penalty. They did get 2 goals back, but after a great second half performance we won 6-5. A.Cox got awarded MOM by their manager. Good win guys. By J.Bugler

"St Albans Rangers games are normally close and tense, and this game didn’t disappoint. We had no B.Bains or R.Troude, but A.Allaway was back in the side after a 3 week absence. After about 5 minutes J.Bugler produced a beauty which lobbed the keeper to give us the well needed lead. After a 20 minute period of end to end action, W.Parkinson found some space and cleverly lobbed their keeper to give us the 2 goal advantage going into half time. The second half started closely, but they did manage to get a goal back to make it tenser for the fans. Though, 5 minutes later there was a questionable drop ball on the edge of their penalty area, and A.Allaway won the bounce and belted the ball into the empty net to restore our 2 goal advantage. Without any hesitation, K.Vyas got the ball and played a one two with L.Green, before finishing superbly to make it 4-1, we thought it was game over. Though, a few defensive errors in the last 10 minutes gave them 2 goals, but we just managed to hold on and record a well needed win. A special mention to R.Curwen who played very well today. Great result guys.

Today we were up against much improved opponents Harvesters South. They finished 7th in our division last season, but they have won 2 out of 2 this season. From kick-off, we were on top, and J.Bugler had a good goal ruled offside. Minutes later A.Cox finished well from the edge of the box to make it 1-0. We were very much in control, until they were awarded a penalty for no reason what so ever! They scored it, which created tension at half time. For the first 15 minutes of the second half it was very even, with neither team really on top. Yet J.Bugler broke this with a beautiful 25 yarder which flew into the top corner. The defence were holding strong, and they didn’t look like scoring. With 10 minutes to go there player broke down the right side when our defence switched off and he made it 2-2. We nearly won it at the end, with W.Parkinson and B.Bains coming close. Unlucky, we were hard done by with the penalty, but it was crucial that we got some points today. A special mention to O.Shann who kept the defence in line today. Well done guys.

"What can I say?
It was a warm but foggy day and we were out against Finchley Flyers who finished 4th in our division last season. We had a squad of 13, after G.Bishop left to join Watford harriers and P.Noren and A.Allaway were not available. A.Cox joined J.Bugler up front and O.Shann slotted in P.Noren’s position of left back.
For the first 10 minutes we were asleep. We just stood and watched them run past us and score 2 easy goals. After that we stared to want it more, and it soon paid off, when A.Cox won a penalty, their goalie got a hand on it, but A.Cox ran in to slot home the rebound. 1-2, game on. We kept on pressing and W.Parkinson came close with a couple of free-kicks. Then, after about 5 corners we finally scored, when R.Troude ran round to the far post to tap home our seconded. We nearly went in front when K.Vyas ran through the whole defence leaving him one on one with the keeper but, he just couldn’t convert it. Then came half-time, and the score was an even 2-2. Like last week as soon as the seconded half started they ran down the pitch and scored. But we did not put our heads down, and it showed when B.Bains played a beautiful pass to J.Bugler who finished superbly making it 3-3. Now we were on top. Before we knew it we were 4-3 up, when J.Bugler played in A.Cox, who kept fighting for it, got through the defence, and finished like a pro. They were busted. Then, when their defence were just slowly passing the ball around the back 4, J.Bugler spotted his chance and tackled two strong defenders, but their goalie somehow managed to save a lovely shot. J.Bugler and A.Cox kept on getting through, but their shots would not go in! We were surprised when their fast wingers ran through and passed it to their main forward who made it 4-4. I don’t know what happened from now onwards. Somehow we let them through another 15 times and they managed to score 5 of them. We were lobbed for half of them, conceded a stupid penalty and lost concentration and watched them run through us.
At one point in the game we looked like we were going to win about 10-3, but in the last fifteen minutes we switched off and handed them 6 goals. We lost 9-4 in a game we should have easily won. We were ok for most of the game but, we need to focus more when it comes to the end. A special mention to W.Parkinson who played really well today and deserved MOM. A slow start to the league but, we can still do very well, with them being our toughest competition.

"Today we were up against white division opponents St Albans City South. They had won all of their seeding matches but we knew teams like this aren’t always as good as they sound. This week, star striker A.Allaway was out because of injury, our lead defender J.Pickard was visiting family and G.Bishop texted us 10 minutes before KO to say he was ill.
We started well, passing the ball around, getting out wide, supporting each other and creating space, all the things we had been told to do. Unfortunately we let them through on goal and they finished giving them the lead. Again 2 minutes later, they got through down the right side and finished, making it 2-0. They got another goal to make it 3-0. But it was not as bad as it seems because we were fluently attacking and causing them problems. J.Bugler had the ball in the centre of the park and he picked out K.Vyas who lobbed everybody with a stunning cross/shot, and A.Cox was there to make it 3-1. We were the better team and our two wingers R.Troude and K.Vyas were having a blinder. Half-time, the score does not reflect the game at all, they have had 3 chances and got 3 goals. Though, the second half was not so pretty. They attacked in numbers and our defence found it hard to cope with and we conceded a further 5 goals. But we still attacked and A.Cox was unlucky not to get a hat-trick.
A tough game, and we did not deserve to lose like that. Another day we could have put up a challenge against them. A special mention to K.Vyas who was great today. Hard luck guys. League starts next week, at last! And we all know that we can do well in our division.

On a boiling hot October day Cassiobury Rangers ran out clear winners against Abbotts Youth Blue. The game started off well for Rangers with A.Allaway scoring within the first 3 minutes. Just minutes later J.Bugler scored the best worked goal of the game with some good passing then a great finish. A.Allaway then scored another good goal. Minutes later after some sloppy defending Abbotts scored their only goal of the match. A.Allaway then topped off a superb hat-trick just before half-time. After half-time Abbotts had a big burst of pressure and were unlucky not to score on several occasions. But with 20 minutes to go Rangers were back in control with a goal from A.Cox that went straight into the goal from a curling corner and to finish another goal from A.Allaway.

"We knew from the outset that this was going to be a tough one, despite this we have showed before that we could put up a fight against any team. We started with our usual 4-4-2 formation with E.Wiley in goal, J.Pickard, P.Noren, S.Bird and O.Shann in defence, K.Vyas, W.Parkinson, A.Cox and L.Green in midfield and A.Allaway and J.Bugler up front.
The game started slowly, with no real action apart from the change of balls. But soon their pure quality started to show when they just passed the ball around our team before a neat finish, which made it 0-1. But we never put our heads down and we started to put pressure on their defence. Though, they got back at us with another 2 goals. As half-time approached we came close to our breakthrough, with J.Bugler and A.Allaway pulling off some testing shots. Not to mention E.Wiley, who was having a blinder in goal. But they quickly scored again making it 0-4 at half time. We knew we had to make a change so J.Bugler and A.Cox pulled back to help the defence. And our tactics paid off , when A.Allawayscored to make it 1-4. S.Bird came on halfway through the seconded half allowing J.Bugler to go back up front. We were looking better than a side that are in the top division, and L.Green came close to giving us a chance of winning. At the other end E.Wiley was demanding the defence and making some saves that even the best goalies in the world would find challenging. We looked the better side. Then we were unlucky to concede 2 goals which we couldn’t do anything about. We were 6-1 down but you would think it was 2-2. With 2 minutes to go L.Green played a neat pass through to J.Bugler all he had to do was to tap it in with his left foot.
We never get good draws in the county cup. But we showed them up a bit by only losing 6-2 and not even deserving to lose that. Remember, 2-2 in the seconded half. Well done Cassiobury, we can hold our heads high. Abbots youth blue next week at home so we have a good chance of getting into the blue division.

"It was a warm, sunny morning and we were ready to take on any challenge. Abbots Youth Red were our opponents. After having this fixture first last year and losing 10-3 we all wanted to make it right. For the first 5 minutes there was not much action with both sides settling into the new season. Just as we were starting to get our game going the punted the ball into the penalty area and their striker had the easy task of tapping the ball into the goal. We didn’t give up then instead we passed our way around all of the Abbots team before A.Allaway tapped home after a goalmouth scramble 1-1 and we looked like we could get a result. We kept on top with J.Bugler having a number of shots on goal, one hitting the post. As half time beckoned, Abbots had 3 very lucky goals to break the nerves of their supporters. Half time Cassiobury Rangers 1-4 Abbots Youth Red. As soon as the seconded half started they just ran through our open midfield to score 3 more goals making the score a very convincing 1-7.Before we were 9 goals behind losing 1-10. Despite that, J.Bugler finished well from close range making it 2-10.
A convincing win for Abbots but with two winnable games left we can still get into a decent division. Well done Cassiobury.
