The first half was good, pressure at both ends. We had a couple of chances but their keeper was magnificent and stopped everything that came near the goal. The game was even and the score was 0-0 at half time.
The second half was a different game. Finchley Flyers scored their first goal quickly and it felt like every time they attacked they could score. We had a few shots on goal but their goalie scooped them up. One of our chances just skimmed over the bar. The final score was 5 0, I think it was just we lost all our energy in the sun.

On Sunday 27th March Cassiobury Rangers played Alexander Park South. It was a lovely, sunny day which gave us a chance to start afresh from what had been a bad couple of weeks.
We started off brilliantly scoring two goals in the opening five minutes through A.Allaway with a great header, and P.Noren with a stunning, deflected long range strike. We kept a good hold in the game throughout the 1st half with strong tackles in defence, the full-backs and wingers making surging runs down the sides and A.Allaway scoring another goal. The score at half-time was 3-0.
In the 2nd half we kept our form up from the 1st half not allowing a single Alexander Park forward through the back four. A.Allaway scored two goals in quick succession, the second of which was his 50th goal of the season. With about eight minutes to go J.Bugler scored a well deserved goal after he had had a storming game up front. Unfortunately to our great frustration with five minutes till full-time we made our only mistake of the game from an Alexander Park free-kick, we failed to clear the ball and consequently they scored. This denied us our first clean sheet of the season. The final score was 6-1

On the 20th March 2011 Cassiobury Rangers played Muswell Hill Cobras. A midday kick off gave us a chance to be bright and fresh for the match. With E. Wiley our regular goalie back in goal we started.
The first 10 to 15 minutes were played mainly on the left hand side. Then with a dashing run from K. Vyas running through the opposition K. Vyas had a shot, which the goalkeeper couldn’t hold. A defender tried to clear it and the clearance came off K. Vyas and went in the net. The score 1-0 to Cassiobury. To our disappointment Muswell Hill scored twice in quick succession after luckily for us, A.Allaway poked a shot and scored bringing the score to 2-2. Towards the end of the first half Muswell scored again, we were 3-2 down.
In the second half T.Attfield had a good chance to make it level but unfortunately it went over. Then disappointingly they scored another three goals taking the final score to 6-2.

We faced Borehamwood 2000, the league leaders who we lost 2 9 to in October. I feared I would be picking the ball out of the net a lot… but for the first time in 2-3 seasons I played out field and A. Cox took on the role of goalie.
In the first 10-15 minutes we were playing better than them and were keeping them under control. Then against the run of play they made a quick counter attack and scored. They then turned in two more chances before half time.
We started the second half quickly with Joe scooping a shot over. Then Borehamwood quickly scored again. After about 10 minutes into the second half Joe capitalized on some poor goalkeeping and put the ball into an empty net. Another 5 minutes and we had a corner. It went swinging in and L. Green connected and scored to make it 4-2. Within minutes . L. Green ran at 4 players and beat them, pulled it back to A. Allaway and he pounded it home and its 4-3, game on ! Quickly after the restart they get one on one with the keeper (A. Cox, playing a blinder) and beat him. It ends 5-3 to Borehamwood 2000.

It was a cold and cloudy day but at least it was a dry when we played our match at home against ST Albans Rovers. Their ranking in our league was forth and we were third. They were in a good position to win this game because of their high standard and recent good form but as we had an unbeaten streak of 9 we were expected to win this one . Their kit colour was white and in the first half we were winning by 1 goal to 0 as A. Allaway took us ahead. Sadly in the second half a fantastic striker named Omar secured their win with a great penalty to score his hat trick . At the end and in disbelief we lost the game by 3 goals. Graciously we shook their hands and went home with heavy hearts, but we will be back!!

Picture a bright February day with the sun gleaming off the puddles of a muddy pitch. The sideline was filled with all our regular supporters, trusty linesman John Bird, three generations of P. Noren’s family, two coaches and one Pepper the dog. Rangers continued in their winning ways and ground out a 4-1 win despite difficult pitch conditions.
E. Wiley seemed at home diving around in the mud and made a particularly brave save, throwing himself at the ball outside the area. J. Pickard made his customary interceptions and well timed tackles (despite the ball often stopping dead as it got stuck in the mud). P. Noren kept up with their speedy winger. There were strong tackles from O. Shann and massive goal saving clearances from L. Green(in his favourite position of centre back!). We saw sparkling runs from G. Bishop, K. Vyas and R. Troud and a well weighted pass from R. Curwen through to the front men (inches offside). Midfield general W. Parkinson looked comfortable on the ball as usual and again it was slick interplay between our front men J. Bugler and A. Allaway that unlocked the opposition defence. J. Bugler scored 1 and A. Allaway 2.
At 3-1 up A. Allaway’s Mum was still pacing around nervously on the touchline saying ‘we need to be at least 6-1 up before I can relax’
Goal of the game came from A. Cox – a swerving rocket into the roof of the net from way outside the box. (Classic A!)
L. Green fulfilled his pre match promise and performed what can only be described as a swallow dive into the muddy goal mouth puddle. Yuk!
Well done boys!

A midday kick-off on a damp, cold misty afternoon, we comfortably won the game and continued our fine run with a 5-1 victory. With E. Wiley missing we were forced to make some changes and A. Cox went in goal. With both teams getting a feel of the muddy pitch we started to take control and J. Bugler grabbed a brace in quick succession. This calmed our nerves and we started to play some nice football between the midfield of L. Green, myself, K. Vyas, G. Bishop, R. Troude and R. Curwen with J. Bugler and A. Allaway making some fine runs and streching the oppositions back four.
Our back four of O. Shann, S. Bird, J. Pickard and P. Norenr always looking calm and composed and winning those fifty fifty battles and crucially the headers. R. Troude popped up again just before half time make 3 nil going into the break.
2nd half we were up hill, but you would never have known as we continued our passing game and is was'nt long before G. Bishop added a fourth. They replied with a consolation goal but we were not finshed yet and with a fine run I managed to find A. Cox who slotted home to make it 5-1. A great team performance. from W. Parkinson your MOTM.

On a very windy, rainy, cold day we won deservedly 3-4.
We started slowly, but after early Harvesters pressure we started attacking well. Goal number one came from a throw-in to the penalty box, which came to J. Bugler, whose brilliant shot flew into the top corner. Whenever Harvesters had an attack, our defenders, P. Noren, J. Pickard, R. Curwen and S. Bird were there to stop it.
Our second goal was from quick passing and ended with a neat finish from A. Allaway. We started to believe in ourselves and with K. Vyas and O. Shann flying down the wings we were creating lots of chances. When our third goal went in from J. Bugler, it looked like it could be a big win.
However, soon after, Harvesters grabbed one back from a corner. Our heads did not drop, though, and just before half-time A. Allaway smashed the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net.
At half-time it was 1-4.
In the second half we had lots of chances, but their defence and goalkeeper somehow managed to keep us out. Our defence, with the addition of G. Bishop, were blocking Harvesters, and L. Green and T. Attfield were creating chances left, right and centre. Half way through the second half, Harvesters got a free kick which was curled into the bottom corner.
At the end of the second half, Harvesters were awarded a penalty which E. Wiley almost saved. After the penalty, having been brilliant all game, E. Wiley was injured and A. Allaway had to end the game in goal.
The final score was Harvesters 3-4 Cassiobury.

The splodgy pitch and gale force winds made the conditions in this match very difficult. The team started strongly, with our back four J. Pickard, S. Bird, P. Noren and O. Shann, defending some early attacking play. K. Vyas and A. Cox got off to a fast start making some great moves down the wing, as they did throughout the first half. W. Parkinson and T. Atfield were supporting every step of the way, looking for that through ball to A. Allaway and J. Bugler to give us our first goal. We didn’t have to wait too long before A. Allaway placed the ball neatly in the back of the net. 1 – 0. End to end battling was then unfortunately finished off with an unstoppable goal from the edge of the penalty area by their number 7. 1 – 1.
More skilful play from all followed, defence still stopping the ball like a brick wall, E. Wiley blocking everything that came his way. R. Troude came on and gave a perfect pass onto A. Allaway’s foot in front of goal. He turned and straightaway smacked the ball just underneath the bar. What a goal! 2 – 1. Half-time.
Starting the second half, P. Noren knocked away every run their number six tried. L. Green played tough in midfield and made some outstanding passes. W. Parkinson skilling out the opposition to keep possession in midfield and a brilliant long shot effort at goal. J. Bugler kept on fighting to get in front of goal and worked hard in the corners to get the ball across for A. Allaway. It was really hard getting the ball out of the penalty area against the wind and Hadley scored their second (slightly lucky!) goal. 2 – 2.
Once again, A. Allaway was straight off the mark and managed well to stay on side and score his well-deserved hat-trick. 3 – 2. J. Pickard and T. Atfield made two amazing tackles, S. Bird made some vital clearances and E. Wiley made another spectacular save to notch up. However, hard tackling from all did not prevent the equaliser. 3 – 3. A last ditch effort by A. Allaway nearly won us the match but it didn’t fall his way. MoM for O. Shann doing a stirling job in defence! All in all a fair result for an exciting end to end game.

Having not played for two months we were eager to keep our winning run going. We started well with two superbly taken goals from goal machine A.Allaway and speed demon K.Vyas which gave us a 2 goal lead early on. However two speedy Borehamwood forwards were causing destruction and before we knew it, we were pegged back to 2-2. Our determination soon paid off, with J.Bugler setting up A.Allaway for his amazing 32nd goal this season! They fought back attacking hard, but we were no pushovers with E.Wiley pulling off some great saves and leading our back 4. Their hard work paid off, making it 3-3 on a counter attack. Again we were back and J.Bugler calmly finished off some fine passing movements to score our 4th. It was HT and we were 4-3 up and we knew that some effective teamwork and shooting down hill would give us an advantage for the second half. The second half had began, and some inaccurate passing led to their 4th, and last goal. We were desperate to win now and it showed, with L.Green pulling off a rocket shot into the roof of the net. We knew what we had to do now and we soon had a 6th with J.Bugler showing some great skill before powerfully shooting straight into the net. We now had 7 with W.Parkinson skilling up some players before beautifully striking the ball past the dejected goalie. I was determined to get my first ever hat-trick and I soon had it after my shot ended up in the top corner with a slight deflection. By now, we were well on top and could have added more with A.Cox, who looked more assured as the game pregressed, having two goals ruled off side. The team was helped massively at different times by the defensive grouping of O.Shann, P..Noren, J.Pickard, R.Curwen, G.Bishop, S.Bird and debutee, R.Troude who by the Second Half were in complete control. There were some fine performances, not least T.Attfield for his battling Central Midfield role, but Man of the Match went to J.Bugler for his all round contribution. A great team performance helped us win today, well done everyone!

Last Sunday the boys lined up to place against Borehamwood in what was forecast to be a walkover – the basis being that the team the Clarets had recently beaten 11-1 had in turn beaten Borehamwood by a similar score.
The game started to plan and after a few minutes of confident, dominant play, the Goal-scoring Machine (aka A.Allaway) has struck by deflecting a shot from Midfield general L Green, past the keeper and into the net. 1-0.
The enthusiastic crowd were expecting an onslaught to follow but unfortunately the Clarets lost their way and for the next 15 minutes, Borehamwood was dominant and the match was certainly back on. A Borehamwood cross from near the corner snuck past the fingers of goalie E Wiley and the teams were level. Borehamwood kept attacking down the right but with O Shann resilient in midfield and Peter stoic at the back – both constantly chasing back – Borehamwood were kept at bay.
However, the boys dug-deep and starting to recover their poise. After a while A Allaway hit the post, and not long after, there was another foray up the centre. J Bugler threaded the ball superbly through a crowd of opponents to Adam, and the rest is history. 2-1.
Not long after, a similar move saw A Allaway once again on the end of a pass from J Bugler and getting the ball past the keeper saw the score at 3-1.
Lots of good short passes and interchange play from the midfield followed, especially from T Atfield and L Green, which saw the Clarets regain their dominance. There was some great defensive work by J Pickard, R Curwen and S Bird all working well as a team, to fend off any Borehamwood attacks.
In the 2nd half the teams started off more evenly and after some end to end play, with some good throws and clearances by E Wiley, Borehamwood managed to chase a route one ball, got past the retreating Claret defence and the ball was in the back of the net. 3-2.
The crowd started to get more vocal and in spite of some rather surprising interpretation of the rules by the ref, the clarets continued to raise their game. John Bird stationed himself alongside the defence (and in the midst of the opposition support) to both motivate the Claret’s defence and to deafen their supporters into silence.
It seemed to work well and nothing more got past the defence – and such was the confidence of the defence that L Green, now playing centre back, found himself supporting the front line and even having a shot at goal!
The midfield of W Parkinson and A Cox, playing with increasing confidence, kept pumping the balls towards the goal and with G Bishop playing well on the right wing chasing everything, it was only a matter of time till more goals came – no surprises when the 4th goal came from A Allaway. Not long after this, the ball was passed through the centre with both T Atfield and J Bugler in a race for the ball. J Bugler got there first and the ball hit the back of the net. Getting a taste for shooting, minutes later, J Bugler received the ball, cut inside and shot low and hard under the diving goalie and the score was complete at 6-2.
A fine victory with the usual good-spirited and solid team performance with the man of the match trophy going to T Atfield.

A bright and crisp Sunday morning and the boys were up for it, following a great
training session on Saturday they were alert and ready to ignite some fireworks
of their own.
With a performance that rivaled any bonfire night displays the boys handed out a
real lesson in teamwork to our opponents. Every aspect from the training ground
was catered for, Hold the line... Done,... Don't let the ball bounce....
Done.... Get it wide.....Done.... Pass and move....Done. There was not one
average performance they all played superbly and stuck to there tasks with
enthusiasm and great endeavour. Lining up with all the boys available aside from
W. Parkinson there was only ever going to be one winner in this return match.
Now A. Allaway had one thing on his mind this morning - "got to get my
hundredth" little did he think that such a resounding performance from his team
mates and a full length "save of the season" from E. Wiley would allow the
Clarets to return their greatest every result..
With well taken goals from A. Cox, L. Green and J. Bugler to add to a few
interspersed by A. Allaway the boys did themselves and the cheering spectators
proud with a score-line that the performance actually deserved.
Any of the team could have walked off with the MoM trophy but a little matter of
8 goals probably helped to tip the scales in A. Allaway's favour.

Halloween was the day of this cup game and what a howler of a game we had playing Hemel Hempstead Aces.
The 11-2 score reflected how good the other team were. The rain overnight and during the game gave us a slippery and muddy surface to play on. As well as the fact that we only had 11 players which meant the team had to work very hard. The pitch itself appeared to be a lot bigger than ours, as were the goals, which is not what we are used to.
With the absence of our regular goalkeeper E. Wiley due to injury, O. Shann took up the roll of goalkeeper in the first half. In defence we had P. Noren on the left side of defence the two centre backs were S.Bird and L. Green and on the right side of defence there was G. Bishop. The Midfield were T.Attfield on the left side and K. Vyas was on the Right. The Centre Midfield were W.Parkinson and A. Cox and the two boys up front were J.Bugler and A.Allaway.
The game got underway but unfortunately after the first couple of minutes Hemel went 1-0 up. Much to our disappointment Hemel scored again we then got a lot livelier with T.Attfield making some strong runs up the left which lead to A. Allaway scoring a great goal. With the score 2-1 we played some strong passes with P. Noren getting it forward to T. Attfield. Despite our best efforts Hemel scored again.
J. Bugler and A.Allaway took the kick off and J. Bulger played a lovely through ball to T.Attfield who then passed it to A. Allaway who had a shot which stung the goalkeepers hands . K.Vyas followed the ball up and calmly slotted it in. The score at this point was 3-2.
Despite our best efforts Hemel scored another two goals which led us to half-time.
The second half saw some solid passing from W.Parkinson and O.Shann and S.Bird making some tackles from the back. A.Cox made some blinding saves in the second half but was unable to stop Hemel from taking a strong lead.
We could not keep up with the pace of the Hemel players which resulted in them scoring 6 goals in the second half. The end result being 11-2.

Cassiobury Rangers arrived bright and early at home to play AC Finchley South. It was a crisp and clear autumn’s day with eleven players so Cassiobury had to work hard without any subs.
When the match got under way we took an early lead with W. Parkinson whipping in a perfect cross which fortunately dipped over the keeper which left O. Shann to tap it over the keeper which made it 1-0 only after 1 minutes play.
We received another corner which W. Parkinson again whipped in curling towards the far bottom corner of the goal. Luckily it went in possibly with the help of L. Green’s foot. After only 2 minutes of play the score was already 2-0.
J. Pickard was very strong at the back being constantly pummelled by the hard shots from the Finchley attack but stayed strong. With K. Vyas running some storming runs down the right wing working brilliantly with J. Bugler and T. Atfield, he was unstoppable. As well as K. Vyas working with the attack, J. Bugler and T. Atfield were doing some perfect and precise one-twos and T. Atfield creating some great attacks with some genius through balls that J. Bugler ran on to.
K. Vyas was running down the wing sprinting well past the punished midfield. He put a clever ball through to the attack which T. Atfield got the end of and streamed past the poor defence and slotted a powerful shot into the bottom corner of the goal which the keeper had no chance. A couple of minutes before half-time the score was 3-0 to Cassiobury.
With a thundering clear from the defence it was W. Parkinson’s header that created the next successful attack. The good header set up J. Bugler but unfortunately he missed it and went to the defence, but then thanks to some sloppy defending from Finchley the ball came back to J. Bugler and on the half volley from the penalty spot he powered a strike at the keeper which he got to but trickled in to the goal. At half time the score was an impressive 4-0 to Cassiobury Rangers.
After David’s/Andy’s team talk Cassiobury were rearing to go with similar tactics. Finchley got off to a good start pushing the defence back enough to get E. Wiley involved in making some confident keeping and we were soon in Finchley’s half again.
With the midfield working hard with some flawless passing out to the wings Cassiobury managed to push up the field quickly. K. Vyas made another fantastic run which he crossed in which hit the defence but with a poor clearance it came to W. Parkinson (whom we know has a lethal shot) who powered in an amazing shot from outside the area which flew into the bottom left hand corner to make the score 5-0.
With another brilliant run down the right wing K. Vyas forced a corner which W. Parkinson took again. It wasn’t the best of corners and hit the defence and cleared out of the box to an open space for the defence to have a shot. As this was L. Green’s territory when he’s in defence he screamed “MINEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” but P. Norén dragged it out to the left hand side with the outside of his left foot, took a couple of steps forward and blasted an unstoppable shot into the top left hand corner from outside the penalty area. After his goal there was a big celebration because it was his first goal in open play. Now the score was a staggering 6-0 to Cassiobury.
From the off Finchley got there act together and made a good run down the right of the pitch and crossed in a ball which the Finchley attack got hold off and slotted the ball past E. Wiley to make the score 6-1.
In the dying minutes of the match Cassiobury switched off a little and Finchley made a couple of attacks down the middle. On one of them the Finchley attack got past the defence and took a very powerful shot to the left hand side which E. Wiley pulled off a spectacular one handed save to keep the score the same.
The whistle went and Cassiobury were delighted with there 6-1 win over AC Finchley South.

Well, if ever there was a game of two halves it was played yesterday!!!
Those who were there are probably just about as drained physically and mentally as those who ran the half-marathon yesterday. It was a very exciting match and to be perfectly frank the - first half was the worst performance I've seen for some time BUT the second half was undoubtedly the best team performance I have seen from the boys. We could have easily come away with a resounding victory, as we basically camped out in their half for most of the second half, not to mention hitting the bar 3 times, the post twice and who knows how many corners that almost ended in goals!
The first half was a bit of a white-wash. Although we had a couple of good opportunities early on we never really got going. P. Noren was bombarded in goal and couldn't have done anything about the four well-taken goals. The whole team had to face a new style of play from Abbots, which was all about a big 'hoof' down the very small pitch and a high bouncing ball going over the back 4 which was how 3 of their 4 goals were scored.
Two key points were mentioned at half-time - 1) the midfield were not going to let the ball bounce from goal kicks and 2) the back 4 were to hold their line a little deeper in defence.
And so the second half began...
A. Cox took the goalie gloves and although didn't have too many balls to save his kicking was fantastic and helped us get back in the game. It's not a tactic I like to use but it definitely worked on the small pitch. Suddenly, Abbots were having to face some of their own medicine with high bouncing balls over the half-way line for A. Allaway and T. Atfield to run onto. Both battled hard to win the 50-50 balls and eventually A. Allaway broke through to score two goals in quick succession. We were back in the game at 4-2.
The whole team picked up and everyone could sense the revival. L. Green and W. Parkinson did exactly as asked of them at half-time, they won virtually every ball in the air and stopped the Abbots attacks. If they ever did get past the midfield, G. Bishop, S. Bird, R. Curwen and P. Noren were completely in control at the back with strong challenges and intelligent passing out to the wings. K. Vyas made endless runs down the right wing which put the pressure on their defence, which nearly always ended with a corner from that side. W. Parkinson's left foot sent beautifully flighted balls into the box on a number of occasions but the Abbots defence somehow kept the ball out with the help of the woodwork!
The Clarets were enjoying themselves again as the tension grew and the crowd were getting more animated on both teams. With 15 minutes to go another corner flew over from W. Parkinson and just when everyone thought it had gone too far, O. Shann popped up at the far post to knock it in the top of the net. This caused both the players and the parents to go into a frenzy - not to mention our linesman sprinting around the woods to retrieve the ball every time it went off the pitch - screaming at the boys to "hurry up".
It was all Cassiobury for the remainder of the match with attacks on goal from all angles. Unfortunately, it just wasn't our day and we couldn't get the equaliser. The boys were brilliant in the second half and deserved at least a draw.
It was impossible to pick one MoM, so I decided to give it to the whole team for working so hard together.
We obviously have a bit of trouble getting going in matches, so we'll have to work on our first half performances but if we carry on with the same attitude as we showed in the second half we should start moving back up the table.
Well done everyone!

After last weeks good performance we were determined to not only keep up our good form but also kick off our league in the right direction.
We nearly had a full squad today, just K.Vyas was unavailable for selection. After 5 shaky minutes we got into the game with J.Pickard putting in some good strong tackles and good distribution to the wide men of R.Curwen and O.Shann, who were making very good surging runs down the wings. After some time there was a breakthrough but sadly it came to the bigger and stronger Borehamwood 2000. It came about following a good parry off the legs of our Goalkeeper E.Wiley (myself.) Then a placed rebound shot sneaked just under my outstretched arm. We were really annoyed about it. About 4 minutes later our tenacious striker A.Alaway chipped their goalkeeper to make it 1-1. About 21 minutes into the game Borehamwood 2000 scored to make it 1-2. We were all determined to get it back on level terms but 3 minutes after Borehamwood scored I had a close shave when I messed up
a catch and it went past me thankfully P.Noren was there to clear it of the line. Another 4 minutes later just before half time we conceded a cracking shot from a Borehamwood player which speeded into the
bottom corner. At half time it was 1-3 to Borehamwood 2000.
After a good half time talking to we were determined to go out and win but we weren't ready for what was to come. 6 minutes into the second half the other team were given a corner, after some poor marking they scored for a header which sent me the wrong way. A terrible decision from the ref (G.Wiley, my dad) gave a corner when it was 5 meters off the pitch when I caught it. It was a further 2 goals before we scored. A.Allaway scored again putting it just out of there goalkeepers reach. They then scored 3 more before the final whistle blew making the final
score 2-9.

After the last weeks defeat we were determined to get a win in this friendly match arranged by the league.
We had the full 14 available for this first time this season so we lined up with the increasingly established four four two
We started brightly moving the ball well through the midfield with J. Bugler and L. Green playing some lovely football up front and O. Shann and K. Vyas supporting from the flanks
Not before long it was 1-0 to the Clarets with L. Green scoring a great close range header Some great playmaking by W. Parkinson and A. Cox kept up the momentum .
Some outstanding saves from E. Wiley and some great defending by the back four of R. Curwen, S. Bird, J. Pickard and P. Noren saw out the first half
1 - 0 to the Clarets at half time
St Albans struck first in the second half but we were not going to let them back into the game and the midfield began to click again and the Clarets were on top.
A lovely through ball by T. Atfield set me up with my first goal of the match.
The play went backwards and forwards and E. Wiley was forced into a magnificent save at his near post and we remained in charge. G. Bishop was supplying some great balls pushing forward at every opportunity from the back
Shortly after we were on the attack again and forced a corner which was well struck by A. Cox and I looped the goalie with a header taking me into double figures for the season.
St Albans came back with another top class finish and soon after we saw J.
Bugler calmly slotting home the his first of the season and then the result was
never in doubt as I got my hatrick with a close range effort.
To round of another fine display A. Cox got his fourth of the season and we ran out with a well deserved 6-2 victory

A game of two half’s, with our squad depleted and only 11 players and one sub it was always going to be tough.
The first half we played uphill against a very strong and physical Panithinaikos side. We got off to a slow start and within few minutes were 1 nil down, this was soon followed by unlucky miss-kick which led to an own goal to give them a 2 nil lead. We kept battling away and our back four had some serious defending to do with
P. Noren, J. Pickard, R. Curwen and J. Bugler trying to hold firm against a serious physical presence and E.
Wiley pulling off some fine saves. We fell further behind and were struggling to get the ball out of own half and up the hill, we then lost P.
Noren who had been as solid and consistent as ever to what looked like serious injury, we all wish him a speedy recovery. Andy was looking forward to half time so we could re-group.
After a rousing team talk and some tactical re-organisation we were ready, Andy instructed the boys to make more tackles and try and match them physically, plus we had the hill advantage.
W. Parkinson moved to left back and he was combining well with O. Shann down the left side to make things happen, while K.
Vyas moved to right back and was getting up and down the right while making some strong tackles and holding the ball well. In the middle were
A. Cox. J. Bugler, L. Green and T. Atfield and they were now winning the midfield battle with J.
Bugler showing some fine touches and supporting A. Allaway up front who was now getting much more of the ball. It wasn’t long before our second half dominance got us a goal back with A.
Allaway slotting home, unfortunately this was ruled out for offside. But it was coming and Cassiobury deservedly pulled a goal back with K.
Vyas firing home after some fine team play. Panithinaikos were worried and rightly so, as soon after A.
Allaway scored our second and his 8th goal of the season and we were looking at a real comeback, the game was real end to end stuff and had us all on edge, W.
Parkinson making a great last ditch sliding tackle which looked like a certain goal. We then conceded after some sloppy play at the back which made the score 5-2, but to the boys credit their heads didn’t drop and they kept pushing forward and we got our third after a great run and shot from A.
Cox that hit the post, but like all good goal scorers he was alert to follow up the rebound and make it 5-3.
A real game of two half’s which we lost the 1st half 4-0, then won the 2nd half 3-1.
Overall a good performance against a very good team, and a special mention to J.
Bugler and W. Parkinson for their well deserved man of match awards.

The second half was well controlled by Cassiobury W. Parkinson showed us his great footwork constantly getting the ball towards goal; O. Shann was in the thick of the midfield not stopping until he got the ball. The away team produced another fab goal from A.
Cox flying down the wing. After strong tackles from J. Pickard the home team didn’t stand a chance especially when every shot on goal was dealt with by E. Wiley’s safe hands !!!Poor J. Pickard suffering a nasty blow from the ball (hope you are ok now) Thinking that surely we couldn’t score anymore after more beauties from A. Allaway and a great run from T. Atfield securing us another – when just at the last a penalty was allowed following a strong tackle on A. Allaway (hope the foot feels better soon) …….. P. Noren stood to take the penalty not buckling under the pressure he bashed it Home !!!! Wow 9-2 what a great win !!!
Well done Cassiobury and well done Liam for a well deserved and treasured Man of the Match trophy……until next week ! we hope J. Bugler is back fit and ready to play.
