I havent been on the ball this season with the match reports but this result is worthy of a few words. This was a classic cup tie and shows what can happen with team spirit and effort even when there is a difference in quality. All the pumas were up for it today and although there were a few times when we were rescued by excellent goalkeeping from D.King or defending from J.Durant and S.Fisher the result was well deserved and we created a few chances of our own. Extra time came and went very quickly and it was down to the lottery of penalties. a couple of misses from the tigers meant that if S.Aderogba scored we would be through, our new player very calmly put the ball home for a very uplifting win. Still struggling in the league but as with last season the county cup is our competition. Not the nicest way to win or lose but each and every puma deserves the bowling and lunch that Mr Morrissey promised them after the game. Dont let him forget that one boys !!!!
First seeding game today against London Maccabi at home. Our formation was D.King in goal, B.Hackett and S.Fisher in defence, M.Rixon, new skipper J.Durant and A.Morrissey in midfield with S.Biggs up front and new signing C.Keogh starting on the bench. The state of the pitch and the wind were never going to let this be a great game to watch but the boys effort couldnt be faulted today. Some good work in the first half created chances for S.Biggs, and A.Morrissey. Some good defending from B.Hackett and D.King kept a clean sheet until a freak clearance from S Fisher rebounded off an attackers knee and looped up in the air over the keepers head. D.King made a great effort to parry the ball out but the wind had got hold of it and maccabi tapped it in from a yard. We didnt let our heads drop and equalised almost straight away when the ball fell to M.Rixon in the box who scored with an overhead kick from around the penalty spot. C.Keogh came on at right midfield with M.Rixon slotting in at the back for S.Fisher. The 2nd half was a battle for us with D.King superb in goal and B.Hackett making some very telling tackles and keeping the Maccabi attack at bay. C.Keogh was outstanding going forward and created a few chances of our own but we just couldnt get the winner. S.Biggs had worked hard up front and was rested for the last 10 minutes with S.Fisher having a run up front. The game ended 1-1 which you could say was a fair result but although there were positives we werent at our very best today and need to improve. We are on the lookout for new players aswell as having only eight could leave us short for the season.
